New Writing Studio!

The new Studio begins on April 19 for one year. We meet once a week for two hours as a full group and there is the option to join our "Silent Writes," which happen twice a week in addition. This is the seventh Studio, and it continues to be a powerful and gentle experience that supports people where they are. 

The class is largely self-organizing around simple ideas: We all show up, are naturally respectful, and produce work (sometimes, play) in trickles or streams. It is amazing how much we learn from one another both about the craft and the journey of writing. Each week, one or two people "workshop" their piece, and then some seriously deep listening takes place. The point is not to criticize or "know better," but to support what works and welcome the voice of the writer. Often, the writer is not aware of their own strength; they're just them, after all!

In addition to offering prompts for between-class short writes (usually with another class member), and sometimes writing in class to a prompt, we may explore some personal themes and writing challenges through Systemic Constellations. 

In my many years of being in publishing -- as a developmental editor and later as an acquisitions editor -- I learned about the field itself, but I also got to understand something of what supports brilliance.
